Bowling Is [Supposed To Be] Fun
Friday night I went out with pals while the hubs abandoned me for work. The plan was to get dinner, go bowling and then catch the Louisville game. I should have guessed that things would be… interesting but I was not prepared for a whirlwind night.
NCAA basketball + draft beer + friends that had been at the bar since noon…
You do the math.
Sensory overload, my friends. In a matter of minutes after sitting down, I didn’t know who to look at, who was talking to me, or who was even talking for that matter, where I could get a beer, what the eff a fist bump was or why Abby was yelling “Lupe!” and banging her hand on the table at a stranger. Or why I got the stink eye so many times.
I know it makes no sense. Imagine being there.
Madness only ensued at the bowling alley. It was like being on a field trip with a class of second graders. The fact was there were six adults that just acted like a bunch of second graders. I know, it’s sad. I have to say I don’t think I helped the situation though. I did, however, ban anyone from picking up the kahuna. (Hmmm, kahuna messed up the next day… I wonder if beer had anything to do with it.) And then I played photographer. I love playing photographer.
On a roll. Girl got a turkey. I think it’s because she’s from the Creek.
My beautiful buddies, Kelly and Abby.
The DOF is wonky but I like the colors.
Too bad “shoes” wasn’t last week’s subject – that could have been fun.
John-Boy doing his best Popeye impersonation. Spot on.
Then the lights went off. And Abby bowled better.
Needless to say, we didn’t stick around for the Louisville game. It came on late, started out bad and we all decided it was best to watch the funeral in the comfort of our own homes. Boo.
PS – I want to thank Abby for helping me fight off the zombies in my dream the other night. You were a big help, friend.
