It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

At least in my house it is.  I love holiday decorations.  Like, really really love them.  So instead of working on my kitchen walls, I hung the stockings on the chimney with care.  And shatter-proof ornaments because the BDD’s tail sends them flying into the wall.  WHAP!

Yes – they really are shatter-proof.  Tail tested.  Tail approved.

O' Christmas Tree

What is it about flame retardant, artificial pine trees that gets me going?  And the twinkle lights?  And the cheap glass ball ornaments?  What is it?

O' Christmas Tree

I love my Christmas tree.  Everything twinkles and glows and catches light and looks so pretty in the dark.  If I could leave this thing up all year-round without anyone teasing me, I would.  Unless dusting was involved.  Because I hate dusting.  I’d put it away if I had to dust it.

O' Christmas Tree

This sets the mood for how I want the month to go – peaceful, relaxing, reflecting on great memories and great people.  In order to make that happen, I am avoiding Shelbyville Road like it’s the sole intention of my being.

O' Christmas Tree

If you live in Louisville, you know what I’m talking about.  It’s bad enough I have to deal with rush hour traffic everyday; I have no idea why people subject themselves to that hostility.  Complete avoidance.

That is, until Big Bro’s kids come to visit and we go shopping.  Because that’s their gift this year: a whole wad-o-cash from Mamaw, Papaw, Aunt Brooke & Uncle Mike and a day of shopping at the mall.  Which happens to be on Shelbyville Road.  I refuse to drive.

Mark my words: I WILL NOT BE DRIVING.

At least I’ll be with the coolest people I know under 20.  Love those kiddos.

  3. Your tree is spectacular! And tail-approved ornaments, I like! 🙂

  4. I agree, I would love to leave them up all the time. They are just sooo pretty!

  5. Two words for you, my grandbig: “The Summit” As someone who got in not one but two rear end accidents on Shelbyville road in the month of September (both hit ME while I was stopped at a stop sign!) I refuse to go there, especially this time of year.
