Week 15: Fork

So when creating the Weekly Photo Challenge, I scoured the internet looking at other’s lists of subjects.  And then I [somewhat] randomly arranged a list of 52 everyday subjects so that the challenge would last a full year.  Not until last week did I say to myself, “Fork?  What the heck were you thinking?”

I believe my original intention was to make myself think outside of the box.  Fork in the road.  Pitchfork.  Tuning fork.  Places named Fork.  Not to forget to mention there’s something like 68 different kinds of cutlery that are called forks.  My brain was apparently in stay-cation mode and there was no thinking outside the box.  But that doesn’t mean I’m not happy with the results.

Here is my fork:

Week 15: Fork

I haven’t played with shadows much but I like the way this turned out.  Maybe fork wasn’t such a bad idea after all.  🙂

Now a secret: This was the last photo on my card.  Number 187/187.  Yes, I took that many pictures of forks.  Why do I share this with you?  So that you don’t feel silly taking hundreds of pictures of random crap.  You don’t have to keep them all, just the ones you like.  And then you pick the best and share it with the world.  A  beautiful idea – and how professional photographers work.  Ansel Adams probably had dozens of crappy prints of Yosemite National Park.  But we will never know.

For next week, the challenge is “cold.”  Perfect since it’s starting to get chilly here in Louisville.  But don’t forget to check out the flickr pool’s photos or click on the challenger roll – I look forward to Wednesdays just so I can see what others came up with.  Happy Wednesday!

  1. who knew a fork could look so cool?

    lightbox?

  2. Great image.

  3. Yup, this could have been interpreted in so many ways. Originally I wanted to find a fork in the road.
    But, it didn’t happen.
    Thanks for the challenge.

  4. Guess who just joined your group on the Flickr? Yes..that’s right. I did!!! This seems so super fun. This is such an awesome idea. Thanks for doing this. It will help keep me focused on a project rather than just taking a picture of random crap. I hope I can post something weekly. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Now.
About this photo. I like it. I like the way the shadow gives this photo dimension. My favorite part of this picture is the very tips of the fork. Such good, crisp detail.

    • 1. It is “so super fun”.
      2. It still is random crap but assigned random crap. The perspective is your choice.
      3. I’m so happy you joined – the more the merrier. And you’re random crap will be even more interesting to view since you’re in Germany.
      4. I’m glad you like it. I am to please.
      🙂

      • Well taking pictures of random crap is MORE fun when you are assigned to it. You know what I mean. I hope I can make pictures pleasurable to the eye. I may live in Germany but I don’t have much of a life as I sit home 90% of the time while my husband rushes to work from 8-6 leaving me with no transportation. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? I’m going to look at this optimistically. THIS WILL BE FUN! I am sure. Watch me think of something too hard and get stuck. I’ve already thought too hard for next weeks assignment. lol! I’ll figure it out.

  5. I’m glad I’m not the only one who takes 187 pictures every week! I can always see the picture in my head, but getting it onto the camera is another story. Like the pic this week!

  6. That is a REALLY cool fork image! Well done!
